Company History

Martha Vance & Associates, Inc. was founded July 1, 1979 by M. Martha Vance. The objective was to capture and satisfy the growing need for a professional employment service that specialized in the placement of office professionals. Martha had previously spent 11 years working for a nationally recognized provider of clerical staffing in a sales leadership role. She utilized her experience and leadership skills to quickly develop strategic alliances with Columbus' top employers. Having worked with business and government alike, her name became synonymous with quality service and integrity based business practices.

Martha received her Certified Personnel Consultant, (CPC) designation from the National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS) on December 15, 1972 and has continued to maintain that designation through continuing education.

In 1989, the economy was stagnant and inflationary pressures made it difficult for area employers to justify paying placement fees for administrative office professionals. Many companies began utilizing a flexible and manageable workforce by working with temporary staffing services. Seeing the employment landscape change, Martha opened the Temporary staffing division and soon began to see the business thrive.

Although she started the business in 1979 with one other recruiter, she wishes to maintain a small, customer-focused organization. Satisfying and exceeding customer expectations while focusing on providing a culture for personal and professional development of internal staff is paramount.

Although Martha has been in the industry since June of 1965, she still enjoys the excitement of placing individuals with companies with whom she has had long and successful relationships. Business First has conducted a competition since 1996 that designates the 50 fastest growing, privately held companies in a seven county region. Martha Vance & Associates, Inc. was honored to be asked to participate and has been awarded the 9th, 11th, and 20th place positions in the Fast Fifty Award for years 1996, 1997 and 1998, respectively.
